CLBC Supports New Group of Adults with Disabilities
On October 31, 2009, the Province deposited the regulatory change for the new eligibility criteria. The change creates a new set of criteria and focuses on a different group of adults with developmental disabilities. CLBC will use the new criteria to provide services and supports to an increased number of adults with support needs and who are most in need of services. Individuals may apply to CLBC on or after February 1, 2010.

To be eligible for support under the new criteria, individuals must have a diagnosis of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder or a diagnosis of a Pervasive Developmental Disorder, plus have significant limitations in adaptive functioning. Adaptive functioning is how well a person handles common demands in life and how independent they are compared to others of a similar age and background. For example, the assessment will look at an individual’s ability to function in areas such as self-care or independence at home or in the community.

If you would like more information on the new eligibility criteria call 1-877-660-2522.
